How Airplanes Fly

Airplane wings are shaped so air moves faster over the top than the bottom. Faster air has lower pressure. This pressure difference creates lift - pushing the wing upward.

It's not about pushing air down like a helicopter. It's about creating pressure differences. The wing is literally sucked upward.
